
BBA IS BACK!!!
British Born Asian (BBA) Radio - the first and finest urban Asian radio station is back - and ready to kick off 2004 with a bang!
The radio station that launched the radio career of Bobby Friction from BBC Radio 1, put Ameet Chana from Eastenders on the drivetime show and brought Markie Mark and the Punjabi Hit Squad crew from 1xtra on the first UK Bhangra show, is back and ready to blitz the local west London community and the internet.
From the 18th January 14th February 2004, BBA will re-launch its internet radio station in conjunction with a four week community based RSL in west London called Urban Sound Radio 87.7fm. BBA radio is set to take over the evening programming of Urban Sound from 6pm 2am, providing the hottest in Urban Asian music on the scene.
BBA radio is committed to representing the entire urban music scene offering an unparalled line-up of DJs and presenters bringing you the best in music and chat shows. From Bhangra to R’n’B and dub to electro, BBA Radio has got it covered! BBA Radio was the first radio station that targeted British Born Asians, and it is still dedicated to the culture of British Asians of all ages and backgrounds.
In addition to the return of BBA Radio, there will also be re-launch of the already successful website www.bbaonline.co.uk - where listeners can tune into the BBA Radio broadcast through the web. The website was already getting up to 1.5million hits a month, with listeners all over the world tuning into listen to the best British Asian programming around.
BBAonline.co.uk is set to become the biggest and best urban Asian entertainment based website on the internet providing interviews, reviews and features on the stars of the scene and of the culture of second and third generation Asians all over the world, as well as the best listings of events that will be taking place all over the country.
BBA Radio and BBAonline represent everything that is missing from Asian programming, and it’s return is eagerly anticipated by many British Asians all over the country. Urban Sound 87.7 fm the Voice of the Real Community
Urban Sound 87.7fm is a new and innovative approach to community radio in London. Broadcasting from the 18th January 14th February 2004 on 87.7fm, Urban Sound will be unlike any other RSL that has taken place, with it’s primary focus being on the vast and vibrant community that is based in the heart of Southall.
By breaking down barriers between cultures and addressing much needed social and local issues, Urban Sound will become the real voice of the community.
Urban Sound 87.7fm will offer the best quality programming targeting the ethnically diverse community of the culturally rich west London town. There will be specialist shows hosted by members of the Punjabi, Hindi, Somali, Afghani and Gujarati community, all addressing issues that affect and enhance their daily lives in Southall and its surrounding areas.
Urban Sound 87.7fm will unite the community through a number of chat and debate shows that will be hosted by well established radio and TV presenters as well as members of the local public. The fresh and funky star of Zee Music Murtz, will bring his unique and addictive flavour to the breakfast show ‘Morning Masti with Murtz’ on Urban Sound 87.7fm. While Southall resident, Gos, contestant of Channel 4’s hit show Big Brother will also be coming on board the Urban Sound team. The show will offer the best music and chat, and will feature a range of special guests from all over the country.
Urban Sound 87.7fm have also teamed up with BBA Radio - an already well-established broadcasting team based in west London and a pioneer of the urban Asian music scene. Urban Sound 87.7fm and BBA Radio will unite the youth through it’s top quality programming. They will offer some of the hottest names from the club circuit and will provide specialist music shows with everything from Bhangra to hip hop and from dub to electro. The evening schedule will tackle community-based issues that affect the youth from all walks of life.
